John 5 proves to continue the message, BELIEVE Christ is the Son of God that was sent to redeem the world. Isn’t that what we celebrate at Christmas and for that matter, all year long?! Today, we see Jesus heal a man who has been a paralytic for 38 years. When approaching the paralytic, Jesus asks him a simple question, “Do you want to be healed?” The answer is obvious – yes! Yet, when the man responds, he begins to speak of his own actions and the actions of other men in relation to his healing. Spend time thinking about the man’s hope of healing. The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” The paralyzed man is explaining to Jesus that he has no hope of healing. There is no one to put in the pool and when I try to get in the pool by myself, someone jumps in front of me! Jesus is showing to this man and all the world that the healing He brings is not dependent on human action. No one else can save and heal!
